Document Destruction IndustryBest Places to Network, by Ray Berry
According to Sales "guru" Jeffrey Gitomer, The 6 basic rules of relationship based networking are as follows:
1) Go where your best customers, probable purchasers, and prospects go.2) Give value first.Be known as a resource.
3) Dig in. Be committed or it won't work.
4) Be consistent. Once you get involved, seek a leadership position.
5) Get to know people on a freindly basis
6) Go slow. Relationships are not built in a day. They're built with value, day-by-day<
I am asked several times a month, "What are the best places for a destruction company to network? If you follow the 6 rules stated above, here is my opinion on the best places to spend your time networking:
Shred School Network- Shred School Alumni share a common bond. They are committed to implementing "best practices". 3) MGMA-Medical Group Managers Association 4) IFMA-International facility Managers Association 5) ARMA- Records Managers Association 6) ASIS-Security Directors Association 7) Credit Union Associations- each state usually has one. 8) Community Bankers Association-each state usually has one. 9) Hopsital Associations-Most provide Environmental Services Chapters and Materials Management Chapters. 10) Pharmacy Associations- Most provide a "preferred vendor program" |
Don't expect business by joining and just showing up to industry associations. Just like you can't lose weight just by joining a gym. You have to get "active". You have to "work out".
Please remember, the best way to get referrals is to give referrals!
